ATTACK #1 DROPPED!

We regret to announce that we are officially dropping the project “Attack #1” due to lack of staff.
It’s not an easy choice that we make doing this, but the project is hopelessly stalled and there is very little hope in seeing it go any further at this point.
I know this is VERY disrespectful to all those who donated to this project, but it is beyond our control at this point, furthermore please keep this in mind.
This project was spearheaded by Tofusensei on his own volition, with little or no input from the rest of the L-E staff, he also personally initiated and handled the donation drive himself in the same way.
And in much way true to his form, he vanished AGAIN, shortly after the project took off, leaving almost nobody left to work on it. ( this is not the first time this has happened. )
This in NO WAY has any relations to other donation drives we have held ( mainly for hardware ) for those are still being used to date for storage and encoding systems.
Again, we regret it having to come to this, but we have little choice.
If you have any grievances you may TRY to address them to Tofusensei here in a message, he might reply, but don’t use his old L-E e-mail address, it is no longer active due to an un-related event.

RIP in pepperoni. At least someone elsewhere took the helm to sub this one.
Indeed, it’s being subbed elsewhere. For those who don’t know about it, do a google search for OldCastle Attack No. 1
Attack Number One is a sports action anime that air in the late 60’s to the early 70’s it’s an old gem with an amazing main char that pull me in from the first episode & I can’t fathom how a show such as this one left untranslated for all this time, it’s those kind of shows I expect from L-E to translate for the fans of those oldies we never had the chance to watch when they air back then, instead what L-E do? waste their time on boring shows hardly anyone care about, that’s the truth & you know it, shows like Attack #1 is those you can’t stop watching after you start, it’s truly a shame you dedicate precious time on the wrong stuff when there is amazing shows like Attack #1 out there & more fans would appreciate if you spent your time translate this instead of anything else you are doing right now.
“boring shows hardly anyone care about”
Be careful of your choice of words there…
“Shows that nobody cares about”
Simple fact – fansubbing revolves around what a translator is able to / wants to translate.
As one of the last remaining active translators what I translate is my personal choice considering I have to spend the better part of 5 – 10 hours per episode translating on TOP of my work commitments.
Yes I wholeheartedly agree that it is a worthwhile show that should be subbed but Old Castle has already pulled well ahead and L-E is struggling to manage current projects.
I’m doing my part by pitching in translation checking Jungle Emperor Leo and Marco (Marco has been around a lot longer and deserves to be finished….) – note these are not my projects but I’m doing them to help out cos if no-one else does they’ll just get left.
So yeah there’s a big difference between what a fansub group has a moral obligation / duty to sub and what it is able to actually achieve based on staff members real life commitments and personal interests.
Although the effort Old Castle doing is worth or praise truth be told they are not L-E, the translation is not that bad although I prefer L-E but the encode especially is terrible, it’s low-res, blurry, it lack clarity & the colors are washed up, the white is like grey & everything have a yellowish tone, it’s nothing like the 720p version L-E did for the 1st episode, in short it doesn’t matter than Old Castle doing that because it’s not the same, I would like to enjoy this show from L-E because I know they are capable of doing a far better job over all, they are amateurs compare to you there is no comparison, so plz don’t drop this because this show deserve much better than that…
I wanna correct myself because I said something wrong, Old Castle encodes are not low res but everything else is I said, their encode lack clarity & it’s so blurry that I get a headache just watching for a few seconds, it’s really bad.
OK so the encodes suck – well thats life I guess.
Problem is – the person who started the project left.
I as a favour translated episode 2 in 2014 but its just been sat there. Nobody wanted to touch it.
With all the will in the world if there isn’t a motivated set of staff members there to actually do the job then it’s not gonna happen.
I’ve already got enough on my plate with Ceddie and Haikara-san ga tooru + TLC’ing Leo and Marco and Tenken is already s uper busy working for multiple groups.
What motivation do I have to pick up a project that
a) wasn’t mine in the firt place
b) doesn’t have staff members who want to work on it
c) We have a QC process that takes weeks to get finished sometimes
d) We appealed multiple times for staff members over the course of the last 2 or 3 years but nobody came
e) Another group is already 40+ episodes left and at our pace would never catch up.
I’m not disputing that morally we have an moral obligation to sub it – Tofusense took money for it in donations but what the heck can we do if theres no staff left to work on it.
If it botheres you that much are you willing to spend the next 5 – 6…7 years being the shows project leader doing time, edit and TS on it and see it through to completion?
Sorry for the offtopic: when will Magical Emi come back?
Emi is currently waiting for TLC, timeframe unknown, due to Tenken being bogged down with real life issues, 3M is in the same state at this time.
LOL
About 3M, I personnally translated it until episode 15. Maybe I’ll translate episode 16 this summer, or at least, after episode 12’s release.
I thank you guys for what you do. While it can be annoying to watch a show, and then it get “canceled” half way through, we can’t really complain when it was being given to us for free in the first place. Life is hard enough to keep up with as it is. Finding time to translate, subtitle, etc, for people you don’t even know is a lot to ask. Especially when they often get upset at you.
If you’re getting upset because a show isn’t getting finished, try to find some time to help the guys at LE out. They’ve asked for help before, and I don’t know of anyone that stepped up to help.
A pity as I was looking forward to it. I did watch the German dub butI’d be interested in the edited parts and the missing episodes.
The series has just been fully completed by oldcastle. The movies will follow.
