It’s often said that fiction mirrors reality… or is that the other way round? :/ I can never get that right 🙁
Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that something odd happened this weekend… where reality has mirrored anime! =^-^=
In an odd turn of events, a grand piano was found in the east river under the Brooklyn Bridge.
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — New Yorkers were mystified Friday about how a grand piano ended in of the East River under the Brooklyn Bridge.
The Mason & Hamlin grand piano was discovered on the Manhattan side of the bridge. No one has come forward to say whom it belongs to, or how exactly it got there.
The piano started drawing a crowd days ago, after a YouTube video appeared showing a woman playing the piano as it stands halfway submerged in the water.
As of Friday night, the piano was still under the bridge, but it was not sitting in the water anymore. A few people even tried to play it from it while sitting on a piece of wood in the sand.
The piano is not in playable condition and makes no sound.
Some people think the piano washed ashore, while others say since it is right-side up someone put it there.

How does this relate to anime?
Like this! 😛
in 2008 we released Piano no Mori! (The Piano Forest)
It’s a lovely story about some young kids who all have a common goal of achieving at piano, though they how they arrive at it is completely different. It’s a gorgeous film that is worth to be seen by all.
From the original release.
Its a story about Shuhei Amamiya, who transfers to Moriwaki Elementary filled with hope and ambition about his new life. But it doesn’t take long before he gets picked on by the class bullies, and gets involved in a dare to play the mysterious piano in the forest, leading to his meeting an enigmatic child that goes by the name of Kai Ichinose, who seems to be the only one capable of getting sound out of the thought-to-be broken piano. -ref wiki
the parallels are just a bit too weird. :p
If you have not seen this wonderful animation, its definitely worth the time spent watching it!
If you have seen it, then SEE IT AGAIN! =^-^=
Enjoy!

NOTE:
there is one slight glitch in this sub.
a missing line T_T
at 19:22. The correct translation is, “The piano in the forest is broken but it can still make sound.”
For what ever reason, it was decided that there was going to be no v2 at the time, but there is a patch to fix it. I can be found here.

And who knows… if by chance there is a Blu-ray release, things may change 🙂
Enjoy! Suzaku =^-^=
Meow baby!
As usual, get it from the bots in our IRC channel, #live-evil @irc.rizon.net or grab it off BitTorrent.
I’ve been trying to figure out what anime movie I should watch next, and this one sounds very interesting. I’ll have to give it a watch. Thanks to the NY piano, without whom I may have never heard of Piano no Mori.
btw
The link on the linked page for the patch says “file not found”.
Should work now.
I think it may only work when mamo has his PC on.
otherwise, he may have to fix it :/
Thanks for getting the patch linked again.
Just watched, great movie! Especially since I love classical music. Thanks for subbing it.
