Devastatingly bad news.

In a terrible loss to the Anime community, and the world in general, it has been announced that renowned manga creator, illustrator, and designer Leiji Matsumoto passed away on February 13 at 11:00 a.m. due to acute heart failure.
His notable works include Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999, and Queen Emeraldas and Space Battleship Yamato.
His impact on culture in Japan and beyond can not even begin to be measured, he will be sorely missed by one and all.

And my personal favorite: Queen Millennia.
I grow up watching Captain Harlock dubbed in my country when I was still in grade school & many years later I watched Space Battleship Yamato & instantly became one of my favorites, Leiji Matsumoto is truly a legend, anime industry lost one of the greatest, my condolences to his family & friends.

Just have to say thank you all for introducing me to his work! His work will carry his memory with us and onto future generations.
