HELP US RELEASE ATTACK No.1 IN HIGH DEFINITION! BE A HERO!

UPDATE: $265.32 raised so far. You can be the next hero!

Hi everyone.

Since 2001, it has been our mission here at Live-eviL to bring you the best quality version we can of anime that has been overlooked. We have dedicated tens of thousands of dollars and hours to bring you classics like Rose of Versailles, Yawara, Death Note, and many others.

On rare occasions, we come across a project that we truly desire to bring you but we lack the resources to do so properly. One such project is Attack No,1, aka the greatest sports anime ever made.

It is absolutely mind-boggling that we’ve gone over 40 years and no one has ever subtitled Attack No.1. The show is one of the most influential anime ever created, single-handedly launching the sports anime & shoujo anime markets in Japan. For two straight years, over 20% of Japanese TV viewers tuned in to see Kozue’s volleyball struggles every week. It is a cultural institution that, unless you live in one of the European countries it aired in, you’ve probably never heard of it outside Japan. Until now.

Like Rose of Versailles, it is consistently voted into Top Ten Favorite Anime lists. The animation quality, for its time, is absolutely top notch, and the story is fantastic.

Mark my words, Attack No.1 will be the new flagship Live-eviL series, on par with Condor Hero, Rose of Versailles, and Yawara. It is 104 episodes long and we plan to bring you every episode subtitled in maximum quality possible, just like we did for those great series.

However, we need YOUR help to buy the Blu-ray boxes. The show was restored and released on Blu-ray recently. We currently only have R2 DVD rips and these are not sufficient for this title. The Blu-rays are surprisingly inexpensive (around $4 per episode, compared to $30 for Lodoss!) at only $450 for the entire series in glorious high definition.

If you’d like to show your appreciation to us for all the work we’ve done over the years, this is your opportunity. You came together for Lodoss and I know you can do it once more. It means the world to us.

P.S. If you have any questions, comment here, contact us on irc, or email us at live.evil.sponsor@gmail.com

P.P.S. Any leftover funds will go towards purchasing R2 DVDs to help us re-do Condor Hero. This is the last fundraiser we will do for a very long time (to put it in perspective, the last time we raised money was to purchase VCDs (!!!) of Condor Hero back in 2003, so once a decade is about our normal pace). If you were planning to support us and missed out on Lodoss, now is your final chance.

Attack No.1 Live-eviL

You guys are AMAZING. We’re floored by your outpouring of support for our fundraiser drive for Record of Lodoss War! I can’t tell if it’s because you actually like us or if you just want to see Pirotess’s boobs in 1080P, but either way, YOU DID IT!

All together we raised $465.36! That is enough to get the Lodoss Blu-ray box the day it comes out, I will be taking photos of the unboxing so you all can join in with us. We will be working hard over the next 5 weeks to finalize the subtitles in advance so we can get the videos out to all our sponsors as soon as humanly possible in advance of the general release!

The other good news is the remainder of the funds will be going towards the R2 DVDs of 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother. We will be able to continue subtitling that show in the quality it deserves! This is all thanks to your support!

Many of you reached out to us inquiring about sponsoring other titles. We are only doing this one time so we have to choose carefully. Here is what we are doing in addition to Lodoss:

1) We will be redoing Condor Hero from proper R2 DVD source, something we’ve wanted to do for a decade now. We actually finished subtitling the show a couple of weeks before the first volume was released in Japan, and it was licensed by then, so we never had the chance. This is an amazing show that deserves better treatment than us or Tai Seng (the R1 company that released it with Chinese & English audio) have given it.

2) Additionally, I know I’ve been hinting at another all-time epic title we will be picking up. I promise you we will be unveiling that in the next couple days. Stay tuned to Live-eviL for updates!

As for all the backers… YOU are the real hero here. We couldn’t do it without you. I know it’s not much, but we made this hilariously bad YTMND in your honor: http://lookslikewemadeit.ytmnd.com/

Hi everyone!

UPDATE: $355.03 raised so far!

First off, thank you for your outpouring of support for our Lodoss Blu-ray project. We’re 90% the way there! We are also raising funds for two other projects (Condor Hero R2 DVDs to properly redo the series) and another major Blu-ray project which we will be announcing in the next couple days, so please keep the donations coming! All in all, it will cost us about $1200 but will give us literally years worth of high quality episodes to bring you (143 to be exact).

フォーチュン・クエスト

Today we bring you a very special release that goes hand-in-hand with Record of Lodoss War. It is a FANTASTIC OVA series called Fortune Quest. It is based off a manga that spoofs 8 & 16-bit RPGs and fantasy stories (like Lodoss).

They created a horrific TV series based on the franchise which had a limited release in the United States. It was called Fortune Quest L and it was nearly unwatchable. Which is a shame because it probably tainted the market for this OVA, which is really good! One of the best video game parody anime ever made.

If you like Zelda, or Final Fantasy, or Dragon Quest, (or Slayers), you’ll likely love Fortune Quest! Check it out. We went to great trouble to bring this to you. The show was never released on DVD in Japan so it is from a laserdisc source but the quality is quite reasonable.

Get the files from bit torrent HERE (one batch torrent for the show) or from the XDCC bots in #live-evil on irc.rizon.net!
